12.12 Sale Singapore Guide: Year-End Deals Worth It?

Short answer

12.12 is the year-end 'double-digit' sale on Shopee and Lazada, held each 12 December. It is a genuine second chance after 11.11, but deals vary, so compare an item against its usual price and the 11.11 price before you buy.

12.12 is the year’s final “double-digit” sale, landing on 12 December on Shopee and Lazada. It arrives about a month after 11.11, which makes it both a useful second chance and a reason to shop carefully — because by December you have a recent benchmark to judge the deals against.

How 12.12 differs from 11.11

11.11 is often promoted as the larger event, while 12.12 is another year-end campaign. Voucher values and participation vary by platform, year and category, so compare the same item’s checkout total. If an item you wanted sold out or you simply weren’t ready at 11.11, 12.12 is often a close second.

How the two year-end double-digit sales compare. Results vary by platform, seller and category.

Two things make December shopping different:

  • You have a benchmark. You can compare the 12.12 price directly against the 11.11 price you saw a month ago.
  • It overlaps with year-end and Christmas buying, so gifting categories — electronics, toys, beauty, home — get a lot of promotion.

Where the savings come from

As with every double-digit sale, the real saving is rarely the headline discount alone. It comes from:

  • Platform vouchers claimed before checkout (minimum spend and caps apply).
  • Free-shipping vouchers, which can decide whether a “deal” is actually cheaper once delivery is counted.
  • Coins and cashback, worth collecting but usually small.
  • Flash sales and official-store drops for the best genuine prices.

Claim your vouchers first, then shop — two identical carts can total very different amounts depending on what you applied.

Judging a 12.12 deal

Because you have recent data, December is the easiest month to shop sceptically:

  1. Compare against 11.11. If it is not clearly better, there is no rush.
  2. Check the usual price. A strike-through only matters if the “before” figure is genuine — the CCCS price-transparency guidelines say a comparison price should be a bona fide previous price, not one inflated just before the sale.
  3. Count shipping and GST. For imported low-value goods (each item’s sales value S$400 or less by air or post from a GST-registered supplier or marketplace), 9% GST is generally charged at checkout.
  4. Cross-check Shopee against Lazada for the same item.

The bottom line

12.12 is a genuine year-end opportunity, especially for gifts and for anything you missed at 11.11. Use your November benchmark, claim vouchers before checkout, and only buy when the December price is clearly the better one.
